When you think of instant updates on smartphones, the words Nexus, Pixel, and Moto spring to mind, right? Well, this time you could add Samsung to that list as well. It seems that the South Korean tech giant is “not so secretly” bringing beta programs for Android Oreo to a number of its users. While Oreo has been hitting the above mentioned devices already - with Nokia 8 and Essential Phone eagerly waiting on the sidelines - Samsung's Galaxy S8 could very soon join the elite club. As far as the Oreo update goes, we know that it doesn't really bring massive changes, but it does bring helpful ones that work both in the background as well as the foreground. But the Oreo update is especially helpful for Samsung as it will bring Project Treble to the table. This will help OEM's push out regular updates quicker - something that Samsung could desperately use. Sources have recognized Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ firmware that points to a beta testing program. G950FXXE1ZQI7 and G955FXXU1ZQI7 were the two firmware’s detected for the S8 and S8+ respectively. As you can see, both contain the “Z” that is used for testing firmware. A similar firmware was used on the Galaxy S7 series when the Nougat update was released last year. Unfortunately, there is no specific time or date as to when the beta program will be released, but it is a clear sign that Samsung is working hard at it - finally.
